Emerson Burton (born Janne Johannes Puurtinen) is the current keyboard-player in the Finnish rock band, HIM. He was born 17th October, 1974, in Helsinki. Both his parents and his sister are ballerinas, and Burton tried himself, but it wasn't really anything for him. His nicknames are Burton or Putte, Burton being the most known and the name he is known by. Burton make his second debut as a temporary member of the band at the concert arranged at the Semifinal Club on the 12th of January of 2001. This was to give the keyboarder the chance to appear in a low key environment before the tour dates in Sweden, Norway and Denmark later that very month. Burton decribed playing with HIM "really easy and comfortable" as his bandmates helped him to learn the set. He was asked to become a full time member at the end of January 2001.

Janne "Burton" has said before his favourite city is Helsinki and that his favourite dish is pizza, although he does not like McDonald's. Burton, alongside Mikko Lindström is the only member of HIM to not have the bands symbol, the heartagram tattooed upon themselves. Burton recently had a child, born in October with his wife, Luisa. The childs name is unknown although resources say a couple of months ago Ville Valo did not even know the childs name. Burton's lucky number, apparently, is the number 7 and his favourite film is City Lights by Charles Chaplin. His favourite drink is coffee and his interests are everything, as seen on HIM's Official Website. Burton has said his favourite song ever is , Klarinetten Polka by Horst Mamerow, his singular message is Murskaa Mäkki! which translates to: Destroy/Crush McDonald's! Burton's favourite album ever is Echoes by Pink Floyd. Janne's previous bands include: Sub-Urban Tribe, Cosmos Tango and Torpedo.
