After switching from BMG to Warners, HIM provide us with their fifth and most accessible album yet. HIM have done little to alter their trademark Love Metal sound, creating another dark, epic album with an unrivalled, beautiful atmosphere present throughout.

HIM's fifth studio album, 2005's Dark Light, became their full breakout in the United States, debuting in the top 20 of the Billboard Top 200 and spawning two major rock hits, "Wings of a Butterfly" and "Killing Loneliness", both of which have accompanying videos. In the summer of 2005 they played the mainstage of Download Festival with Black Sabbath and Velvet Revolver.

The success of Dark Light has also allowed a number of HIM's previous albums (including Love Metal) to chart in the United States. In October 2006 the band's official website announced that Dark Light had been certified Gold in the U.S. by the RIAA. This made HIM the first band from Finland to sell over 500,000 records in the US.

Some time during their tour to promote Dark Light, Mige and Burton put a song together called "Plasma Mullet" that is completely different from their other work and is not on any official release of the band. The only time it has been released to the public is when it was played on skateboarder Bam Margera's half-hour radio show on Sirius Satellite Radio or at various concerts after their performance. Margera refers to it as their "jokey song".

Întrebare pentru aceia care mai compun muzica din îndată ce în când: vi s-a întâmplat sa ascultati un cântec si, chiar din întâia clipa, sa va roadeti unghiile de ciuda ca nu l-ati compus voi ? Ei bine, asta mi s-a întâmplat cu câteva dintre piesele de pe acest ultim album al celor de la HIM. Mai exact, cu primele 5 piese, dar in rarisim cu Rip Out The Wings Of a Butterfly si Killing Loneliness, piese care sunt scrise pe reteta de succes a lui Heartache ...

Chiar de la prima ascultare au reusit sa imi dea o situație de bine si beatitudine. Probabil, printre cele mai bune componente si versuri scrise de HIM vreodata. Dar, voi reveni la ele.
Am primit albumul de la o prietena. Cadou. De la Razorblade Romance incoace baietii ma cam pierdusera de ascultator fidel, probabil si din cauza unei perioade nu atat de roditoare in cariera lor. Titlul acestui ultim album va poate induce, desigur, impresia ca ar fi unul cu accente “dark”, putin pesimist. Ei bine, nu. Albumul este Minunat si Frumos, Pozitiv si Invingator. Piesele contin armonii simple, dar de efect, peste care se astern mult mai pregnante claviaturile decat in celelate albume. Vile pare sa se intreaca pe sine de aceasta data. Versuri ca si „ Come on and show them your love/…/For your soul, my love ” sau si mai bine „ Nailed to a cross together/As solitude begs us to stay/We disappear in the life forever/And denounce the power of death over our souls as secret words are said to start a war ” par sa spuna FUCK singuratatii, imbratisand cu tărie sentimentele pozitive si urmand calea Vietii.

Am afirmat cu putere intotdeauna ca cele mai frumoase versuri de dragoste in muzica apartin celor de la Depeche Mode, asa cum cele mai frumoase versuri in spiritul romantismului intunecat, dar periculoase, despre porțiunea mai „dark” a naturii umane sunt rodul celor de la My Dying Bride, iata ca redescopar in HIM si, mai ales, in Vile Valo un fel de Shelley al rock-ului finlandez. (Complicat, stiu. Dar arata bine, cel putin.)

Cu acest ultim album, HIM se reconfirma. Isi reconfirma muzica, sentimentele, pozitia in topuri, dar mai ales imaginea, “brand”-ul. Cumparati-l. Am trecut 12 piese la playlist din cauza versiunii Limited pe care o detin, cea de înșiruire avand numai 10 cantece. Merita chiar si asa.
